I think I asked the right questions for this one, but I'm not sure if I wrote down the questions we had to ask correctly. I really enjoyed interviewing Tsubasa, and I appreciate all the time he took to meet with me. It was fun getting to know him, and I'm grateful for how patient he was with my Japanese. I want to wish you good luck with your job in Japan next semester Tsubasa, thanks for all your help.

Interview #2
I think the Japanese New Years sounds kinda similar to what my family does. A lot of our family gets together, and we eat a lot of food while watching TV. I wonder what kinds of shows/foods are considered typical New Years tv/food. Do you go to the shrine to make a New Year promise?

Interview 1
I found it really interesting to listen to Tsubasa talk about high school. He didn't have much more in class time than I did, but he had to do a lot more work. Tsubasa said that they would do more work after school was done until really late at night. Then a lot of his time on weekends went to studying. I was really lazy in high school, but still got decent grades. If I had gone to a Japanese school I have no doubt in my mind that I would have failed, and not just because I didn't know any Japanese at the time :P. I wonder if it is common for high school students to be really busy in school, or if that is just for people who want to get great grades. Is there any free time to just goof off and have fun? Also I wonder what sort of extracurricular activities there are. My high school life was stage crew. Most of my time after school was done was working with them for plays, dances, assemblies, announcments, and any other events. Plus I did a lot with a scuba diving club and bookstore. I wonder what sort of non academic things there are to do in Japanese high schools.

Valentine's Day & White Day
1. I think that it is an interesting take on a holiday. I like how they decide to separate it into two different days. The idea of obligatory chocolates seems kind of strange, and if you had to give them to a lot of people I think that would get expensive. I guess that is kind of like what we did with Valentine's Day in grade school. It didn't go into too much detail what the guys would do for white day. I remember that guys can also give chocolate, but are they expected to do something more than that? I wouldn't mind trying to do a Valentine's Day the way it is done in Japan.
2. First of all I would like to ask what are the different events where people have to give gifts to each other. Second I would like to ask a point of clarification on obligatory chocolates. Does the girl just give them to people she is sort of friends with, or to just about to everyone she knows? If you are only giving some to your friends, I don't see much of a problem with the whole thing. I don't think that it would be that expensive, and it seems like something nice to do. I know that I would like to get a gift from someone, and I would also enjoy picking out a return gift for them. We have plenty of holidays here where we give gifts to people, and I normally enjoy those. Who cares why we give gifts, as long as it is fun, why should we stop doing it?
3. I would enjoy participating in Valentine's Day/White Day. I think it is so much easier for the guys because they only have to do return gifts. The people the guys are giving gifts to are already expecting gifts in return, whereas the girls have to go through picking people to give stuff out to. However on the same note, if the guys got a gift and didn't give one back, I think they would be in a worse situation than a girl who didn't give a guy a chocolate.
