Interview #2

I think the Japanese New Years sounds kinda similar to what my family does. A lot of our family gets together, and we eat a lot of food while watching TV. I wonder what kinds of shows/foods are considered typical New Years tv/food. Do you go to the shrine to make a New Year promise?

Usually, people watch "kohaku uta gassen" (singing battle: female vs. male singers" on the new year's eve.

People usually go to a shrine to pray for a prosperious, happy new coming year and famly health.

  3. In the past me and my family and friends really haven't had any traditions. I do like the idea of eating traditional foods and I like some of the stories that we have heard related to New Years in japan, so maybe it would be fun to try and make some traditions of our own, because while America has some traditions, New Years is really only a holiday to go and party here.
